Dockside Fuel Pump?

My marina is in and out of fuel so I bought a 29 gallon fuel caddy. My problem is the caddy is gravity feed and my boat higher than the walk way at my slip. Has anyone come up with an electric fuel pump that I can modify? 12volts is readily available on my boat and the old hand crank pumps wont hlep becasue they leak when I lay the caddy down.

Wouldn't any automotive or boat fuel pump work? One of my older cars has an external fuel pump I bought from pep boys

You can buy a 12 volt electric fuel pump from Pep Boys...around $35.00 I believe I saw it last...might take awhile...I think it is 1/4 " I.D. hose....lol.. its meant to provide for a carb...not fuel transfer...

how high up is it ?...can you mount the tank on something safe on wheels that is higher than your fill ?

another thought here on this...if you have 12 volts available... how about installing an air fitting , or tire valve into your Docksider at the vent orifice, and pump the fuel in with air pressure...I would keep the PSI down while doing this...wouldn't want to rupture the Docksider...

How about going to another marina for fuel when yours is out? Just a thought. Seems like a lot of work trying to pump up.

Fuel at our dock is 14 cents a gallon more than on the street. Sounds like a lot of time and effort to save $4 on a fill-up.

Not allowed to transfer fuel at the marina slip where I am at. It's for safety reasons. I was caught once and warned. My marina doesn't even sell fuel. I have to go to the next one over.

I'm betting a fair share of reputible marinas would ban transfering fuel. I can imagine the safety issues as well as enviromental issues as well. I would be concerned about a spark from the 12V transfer pump will attaching it to the batteries.

I used to bring fuel onto the dock for my 19 footer. 3 five gallon gas containers would be fine for the little 4 banger I/O. But that I would just pour in, no pumps involved.
