Anyone towing anything with a Dodge Journey V6 AWD? Looking at one as a replacement for my sedan but I have a 6 x 10 cargo trailer that I need to tow frequently at speeds rarely more than 60 MPH about 35 miles round trip. GVWR on the trailer is 3500# but typical loading will be in the 2400 - 2500# range which is the limit as indicated by Dodge. More interested in the reliability aspects than general performance. The 3.6 V6 has plenty of power for the load. Trailer has brakes. Experiences???

I have zero respect for Consumer Reports and their very biased reviews. That said, there have been Chrysler mini-vans in the family for decades with zero issues. I've logged 3,000 miles in my brother's Journey find it to be an OK vehicle. Prior to the Journey he had a Toyota Hilander and I found it to be a very annoying vehicle on the same trip. Having logged millions of miles in my driving career the only one that has never left me sitting at the side of the road are my GM vehicles. I've towed with lots of different vehicles but never a smaller trailer with a Journey. Just curious as to the experience others may have had.

And you want to switch to a Chrysler product for what reason?

My friend at work has a Journey. He won't be buying another one. Many many transmission problems. Do a google search. You will find many discussions.

I was faced with the same decision.
Needed something for towing 2000-3200#, and wanted some cargo space if possible.
Couldn't justify a full sized truck, and didn't want one.
Tow capacities have dropped like crazy on the suv's in the last 3 years.

Decided to give up the 4x4 and awd and ended up with fwd Dodge Grand Caravan SE Plus.
Same engine, 6 speed trans, basic power options, tons of cargo space, 3500# towing capacity.
Got over 18 mpg towing 3200# to Canada and back.

Just drove 300 miles yesterday, all highway, 60 mph, 32 mpg.
Under $25k with the hitch and electric brake controller.

I'm not a Fiat/Chrysler guy, but couldn't find anything even remotely close, except for a Nissan Frontier base model pickup.

What kind of money are they asking for the Journey??

Need AWD. If Chrysler still made an AWD mini-van I'd probably have one. Can't put golf clubs sideways in the small GM SUV's and they are much higher priced than the Journey. It's the 9 speed Chrysler tranny that has issues. The Journey is not a "gotta have it" vehicle. Just looking at possibilities.
