doel fin or prop problem?

i have a 1987 19 bayliner with a 115 mercury on ot if i go to wot from an idle she cavatates if i come upslow she will be ok but as so as i trim up the moter she starts to scream again like she is cavatating think its the prop or the fact some one put on those fins? i just bought the boat motor and trailer for 1000 bucks was it worth it?

It could be that your motor is mounted too high, which allowes the ventilation you are experienceing. Take a look at the anti-ventilation plate (with the doel fin) and see if it is even with the bottom of the hull or not. Repost back with the results.

yes it appears tobe even with the bottom. also i have to put in in reverse to go forward, and when i do that the linkagemoves backon the powerhead like it should right? put it in forward and the linkage is pulled toward the frontof the boat could it be a counter rotating drive with a standard prop cause its pretty slow and revs pretty high! thanks james
