My uncle gave me some old hydrofoils off his volvo penta outdrive to put on my Merc and luckily the holes that were already in my leg line up. I have a 16ft aluminum and a 16 pitch prop, do you think I'd gain anything by installing them? I'm probably going to give them a shot tomorrow anyways unless I hear otherwise.<br />Eric

They may help, and they may hurt your performance.<br /><br />If your motor is mounted at the correct height and you are not underpowered, you will likely see little effect.<br /><br />If your motor is mounted at the correct height, but you are underpowered, it should help holeshot and planing.<br /><br />If your motor is mounted too low, it will likely slow you down.<br /><br />If your motor is mounted too high, it will have little to no effect.<br /><br />Give them a try.<br />Water should not flow over the top of them once you get on plane.
