does a 1991 evinrude 250 V8 have sensors?

DHADLEY....<br /> is that sarcasm? it seems like you are the only one on this board that has experiance/opinion with the V8's. this motor i just aquired seems to be in good shape.Chris Carsons marine in key largo did the lower end and carbs and said it was solid. what do you think? disconnect the VRO and run pre mix? what else should i know about this motor? i want it to last to next winter when i can dump it and get a Merc 300 thanks for your advice! james

I love 'em. Ive had a few and rigged a bunch thru the years. They are a breed of their own and should be treated and set up as such. If you treat it and set it up like a V6 you will most likely be unhappy. If you bought it on a boat it must have been rigged properly to have lived 12 years. Theres no reason it shouldnt last for a very long time to come.<br /><br />Make sure of the basics. Good fuel delivery (no restrictions), Champion plugs, FRESH 87 octane fuel and good oil. Talk with the previous owner. If hes been trouble free then continue what he was doing. If hes had a lot of trouble, learn from him. Find out what was going on and correct the cause of the problem. Dont just fix the problem. <br /><br />Good luck!

Get rid of the VRO's and mix your own oil...That's what I do with all my Evinrudes, specially my V8's:happy:
