does any one know what engines will bolt up to a PENTA 275 outdrive

I noticed that VOLVO used several motors with the penta 275 outdrive, but which ones bolt right up. Im new to boating and im renovating this boat.<br />thanks in advance for your help

That depends on what the gear ratio is, what the exhaust system is set up for and what kind of bellhousing you have.<br />What are you trying to acomplish, or do you just happen to have a 275 drive?

It mostly has to do with the bellhousing.The transom plate is kind of generic. Most times exhaust can be rerouted. But last the drive itself is specific to the motor type (ie; 4, 6, 8 cylinders). Like Don says. <br />Need more info to be able to tell you more.

it got a AQ 131 engine thats frozen. how do i find out the ratio of the outdrive?

With a 4 cylinder Volvo engine, the 275 was a 2.15:1 ratio.<br />You are going to need another VOLVO 4 cylinder engine to replace your old one. Otherwise you are going to have problems with motor mounts, exhaust hookup, and bellhousings.<br />The Bellhousing is designed for a Volvo engine, which is different from Chevy and Ford engines.

OK, I'm in the same boat, ha no pun intended, I have a AQ131A 4 cyl. on a 275 outdrive in a Bayliner Capri, 19'. I have similar issues, low power, pinging under loads, hi heat.<br />I'm hearing that there is no upgrade ? Ouch<br />What if i replace engine and drive ?<br />Any Hi performance tricks I can do ?<br />Please help as the boat is perfect except for this, I'm new to this site so let me know if this is making it... Thanks loads, DBR
