Well there are a few things that may help. It is just that you are not use to being on the water so it is messing with your equallibrium. Try to counter act the movement of the boat while on the water if pitching one way lean the other way, If your boats big enough try standing for periods of time while out, try not to have extended trips on rough water. Make sure you keep the bow into the wind and waves it will be easyer to adjust if the movement on the water is more up-down than side to side. You will get use to it over time. If it still happens then you just may be pron to motion sickness. Sucking on pepermint may help, also gingerel, or get some dramomean from your local drug store. Good luck I hope you get over it.

For some people, this is not unusual for a short period of time. It could also be an indication that you have an slight ear infection or other problem affecting equilibrium. If it does not subside, or is now at a level that is something more than a minor concern, a trip to the doc to have it checked might not be a bad idea.

As far as the normal side of things, I once spent a year going to sea for weeks at a time. After returning to port, I sometimes felt as you are describing for several hours - I was just so used to walking about the vessel compensating for seas all the time, that my body had to get used to a solid surface again. It always went away and there was nothing physcally wrong.

Delivered a boat from Charleston SC to Annapolis MD ,outside most of the way..she was a 48' Trawler (Grand Banks) slow boat..spring,so plenty of heavy sea's..docked at AYC,went to the store 2 blocks away.while walking (staggering) didnt have my land legs yet..a cruiser pulled up and asked if i was OK...Explained i wasnt drunk..but had been at sea for 5 days & just got in....The Officers laughed..and stated most of the residents had the same dilemma 'cause _" Annapolis is a drinking town..with a sailing problem"

For sure it will pass. Once you get your sea legs, you will be fine.

You need to get a parrot to perch on your shoulder. The talons pinch your Brachial plexus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachial_plexus). The pinching is similar to acupuncture, and it inturrupts the "movement" signals in the sympathetic nervous system.

My youngest is like that.
We'll go out and for about 30 minutes after he still feels like we are out on the water...

"I just tell him he's got water in his brain and it's still sloshing around" :D

When I lived in the U.K. the American Navy ships would dock at Southampton. The sailors would run from the ships to the pubs without a problem, but they sure got an attack of land legs when the pub closed.......funny how that happened.:p

It may never actually go away but it should get much easier to deal with the more you go boating.
What a great excuse !!
