There should be a law against naming a city after a state. ;) :D

when I first saw your post I thought you were asking about the state of IN but and did not understand the "pa" but finally caught on. I live in IN but have heard of IN, PA. Strange name for a city.

Hey! You are only 276 miles away from me in NJ. We are practically neighbors!

Not as strange as Intercourse, PA, which is just down the road from Blue Ball, Pa, and Bird-in-Hand, PA. Oh, and Paradise, PA is not far away.

Post is two years old. Aspeck, I heard Blue Ball, PA was having a tough go of it recently and the good folks of Intercourse,PA bailed them out. Is this true?

Re: does anyone live close to indiana pa?

Yea, I noticed it was 2 years old also, that is why I didn't tell Mr. Gibson that I live about 75 miles from Indiana, PA.

I am far enough away from Blue Ball and Intercourse that I don't get much of their news, so I don't know about their financial state ... but because of the economic hard times of the area, I would not be surprised if that isn't the case, Intercourse is a little bit bigger and more "touristy" than Blue Ball.

Blue Ball is an unincorporated community in Lancaster County, PA. Blue Ball lies approximately 2 miles east-northeast of the town of New Holland, (New Holland Construction and Agriculture now a subsidiary of Fiat - the blue tractors) at the intersection of US 322 and PA Route 23.

The name does have a thoroughly respectable origin: it comes from the Blue Ball Inn, which stood on the southest corner of the PA 23-US 322 crossroads. The inn is no longer standing; it was torn down in the 1990s after more than 200 years.

Two other good PA town names:

State College
Jersey Shore

Indiana is a pretty good college town in PA, IUP the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in my younger years I drank a few beers in those parts.

Aspeck, this was just a lame attempt at a little subtle humor. Maybe I should of used the term "relief effort".???

Thanks for the info though:D

I had heard it was Bird-in-Hand, PA., that had helped out Blue Ball, PA.

Oh this could get interesting. Better stop now.

Mt. Union is 12 miles from my home, Everett is about 45 miles, State College 26 miles ... there are actually 2 Paradise's in the State, the one in Lancaster County that most hear about, and the one in our area ... actually it was flooded over when they filled Lake Raystown. It was right up the road from Aitch (pronounced "H"). From my house you had to go through Aitch to get to Paradise!

Oh to be in the center of this GREAT STATE!
