Re: does farmers have boat insurance?
Howdee snowb67891,

Farmers does offer boat insurance to their clients. A few things to consider when looking at any company are:
1) Is the policy going to give you the ACV or Replacement Value for your boat? ACV is the current used market price. ACV = Actual Cash Value. Replacement Value is going to pay you a price similar to buying a new boat of a similar like & kind without depreciation. From company to company will find many deviations of this. Just be sure you know which you are buying. Typically the replacement policies are more expensive because the potential payoff on the insurance companies part is usually significantly higher.
2) Another thing to consider are the various limits of coverage they offer.
3) Read and ask the agent about the exclusions. Some policies limit the water you can operate in, as an example. Some exclusions might include personal property including fishing poles, water skis etc.
4) Ask about optional coverages that are available. Such as towing. My boat has a backup gas motor as well as an electric trolling motor. The lakes I fish are heavily populated therefore I am not concerned with towing. However if I fished in more remote areas or had no backup power sources towing could be a major concern. Towing in many cases can be very expensive.
5) Price isn't everything. When it comes to motors, boats or insurance.

I strongly suggest that you call your agent and review the limits of coverage you have selected every year. Also ask about any new options or discounts that may have recently started. Good Luck
