Does Fuel Stabilizer Ever Go Bad?

Hi: Quick question. I have two bottles of K&M Fuel Stabilizer. One is about 3-4 years old, the other I bought this winter. Does fuel stabilizer itself ever go bad?

The reason is, I just bought a Honda 2 HP Four Stroke OB & a Tothatsu 9.8 2-Stroke. I'll maybe use a gallon of gas for the Honda & go thru 2 each 3 gallon external tanks with the Tohatsu for the season.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Alex

It shouldn't go bad if the covers were on tight.
Otherwise some of the alcohol and other ingredients may have evaporated out.

I sure hope it doesn't go bad. I buy the big gallon jug of the stuff, and it takes a while to use it up.

I'm going to call the manufacturer tomorrow & check. Just to be on the safe side. I'll post later, when I find out. If anyone else has this same question on their mind.

Alex

That is a good question. I would be curious to see what they say...

Well, I called the manufacturer & they said it's usually good for 24-30 months. So, I'm going to dump the older stuff & date (on the bottle) when I opened the new one. Just an FYI for those people who may hang on to their fuel stabilizer.

Regards,

Alex Moore

One of the main ingredients is isopropyl alcohol. If it's been opened, it will evaporate rather quickly, leaving a higher concentration of the other ingredients.
