I have a 60hp Johnson while changing the prop with the engine tilted up out of the water i noticed there was water still setting in the lower unite. I was thinking this would not be good. Is there a drain hole for this and maybe this one is plugged up. And if so were is it located.

Doubtful it has a drain. With no details about the motor, I'll assume it has thru prop exhaust and the housing will have water when tilted up out of the water, same as when it's down in the water.

When the lower unit is in the down position on a trailer all the water will drain out.

If you think about it when the boat is keep in the water and the engine is tilted up you would think having water staying in the housing would not be a good thing. That is almost like leaving the engine lowered into the water. Just a thought.

On my engines there's a small drain hole below the water inlet on one side, as well as on the front where the gearcase attaches to the midsection. I would assume yours would be similar, but can't say for sure. I doubt that just a bit of water remaining would be a problem though.

The water in the hsg is normal. That's why in northern climates they tell you to put the mtr down be it in the lake or on a trailer when it's freezing out.
