Just bought a 1998 Bayliner Capri 1950 3.0 mercuiser with aplha one and I love it. I just ordered a 3 blade 14 1/4 x 21 and a 4 blade 14 x 19 prop made by Turning Point and both props hit my trim tab on the alpha one lower unit. Checked with turning point and they said that I need to change that tab for these performance designed props. Through some research I have fouind that if I have power steering on my boat that I can put a blank tab on. So here is my question, how can I identify if I have power steering on my boat? Thanks

You would look for a power steering pump attached to the front of the motor. Never seen a 3.0L bayliner that had PS

Very unlikely you have power steering.

Take a grinder to the tab you have and carve out a notch to give you the required clearance.

would look for a long hydrolic piston above the rear of the engine going horizontal.

pushes out to turn right pulls in for left

not to common on smaller motors

+1 on carving out a notch except if you start removing too much. at that point look at changing the angle of the anode or putting in a blank.

I'm pretty sure if the O/D has a trim tab you don't have power steering. No trim tab = PS.
