Re: Does My Motor Look Too Low?
Hey Silvertip,
This is a long shaft motor, i finally realized what "EL" is from the ELPTO on the motor. We raised it to the middle holes and didn't have to drill any holes, all 4 bolts went in just fine. The immediate thing I noticed is when I backed away from the dock, the steering wheel was so easy to move compared to how it was. My RPM's may have gone up only slightly, now at 5400 rpms with 2 people wide open. The plate above the prop is still probably 4" below the waterline, so improved but probably not where it should be still. I figure I'm going to leave it and enjoy it for the summer and eventually buy a lower pitch prop. I don't know speed yet, I went out last night without my gps. I was surprised when someone showed me the photo they took of the rear of the boat while in action how close the powerhead was to the waterline. It's a Bigfoot, it has it on the cowl. I was thinking the transom was set up for a normal shaft motor and they put on long shaft.
BonairII,
We go to oneida shores on the boat on the weekends. We dock and go see the ice cream man and check out the beach, it's a nice way to see the beach for free, plus they have nice bathrooms right at the docks. Maybe I'll run into you sometime.
