I recently cleaned out my carb and was wondering if my fuel inlet needle is supposed to have a seat. The needle has the rubber coating on the end of it but no seat in hole? i dont have manual yet but am wondering if anyone would know? It may have fallen out when taken apart. fuel is flowing out of front of carb. serial # 0B339198 15 hp merc 2 stroke. thx

In general, rubber tipped needles do not have a rubber seat in the carb. Metal needles do use a rubber seat. I do not see one list on mercurypartsexpress.com for that serial number. You may need to check the float adjustment. I do not know what it should be. Someone else might or you may have to wait for your manual.

Hope this helps

Hi thanks for the reply. Well with the carb off and fuel line attached and the bulb pressed feul continues to flow out the front of the carb. This tells me my seal at the needle is not good. When i manually held the float up against the needle the seal was good so i am not getting enough pressure to make a good seal. i tried with my new needle and no success. I know my float is good so this comes to adjustment. But there is not way to adjust my model carb without bending the peice that sits on top of the float and pushes the needle in, which my local service tech said you shouldn't do on that model! So what do i do? the problem is very obvious yet i dont know what i should do. If i do bend it to make a better seal how will i then adjust it so its proper. I guess i will do what i can to get by till winter but anything is better than nothing. I plan on rebuilding carb in winter. Any ideas...should i bend and hope it works?
