Does Octane matter?

I just realized I filled up my gas can that I used for the mix in my 63 Johnson with 89 octance instead of 87. Does this matter?

no. It only matters if your motor is specifically set up/tuned for higher octane and you put the low end stuff in. Putting in a higher octane offers no advantage but won't hurt anything either.

Depending on how many gallons you bought, you might have wasted enough money to buy a small bag of M&Ms
