Does stainless prop improve performance?

I have a 2007 19ft Bayliner bowrider with a 3.0L 135hp Mercruiser I/O. I am wondering if a stainless prop will improve performance. Any brand recommendations?

Yes a stainless will improve most aspects of performance.
improvement could range from a little to a surprising change.
The question is will you think it is worth it.One of the experts may be along
with some suggestions on type.

First off I'm certainly no expert in this field but a good S.S. prop will give you a definite edge over a stock aluminum one. The downside is the dreaded prop strike. Hitting something with an aluminum wheel will cause less damage to your lower unit than striking it with S.S. The aluminum will break or bend a whole lot easier than the steel will, so the internal gears will more than likely take a lot less of the force.
It's just a matter of a few M.P.H. or a lower unit replacement. I swing a S.S. wheel on my Pursuit but I know my waterway and environs. Of course there is always the chance of hitting something you can't see.
It is just a matter of choice.

A 19 footer with only 135 hp is a tad under powered to start with, and strike two is that Bayliners tend to sit stern heavy at rest, but perhaps a 17" pitch alum or 16" stainless will do a good job. I went from 19" to 17" pitch with no reduction in top speed yet a vast improvement in ability to pull up a 250 lb. skier, as well as generally bringing the bow down much quicker for better visibility and safety. The hub on the prop should protect the drive train wheather aluminum or stainless.Also the stainless will hold up better against soft strikes stumps sand etc.However a hard strike ,rock etc,can be costly.Stainless is expensive to repair.
