I am upgrading my boat. Here in colorado most lake are at 5000 to 7000ft. Will the 4.3 have enough power to pull skiers and people up here in an 18ft boat.

Welcome to iboats.......:)
It should be enough......;)
An 8 cylinder would be better though, for obvious reasons.........:)

Re: Does the 4.3 have enough?

I have a 4.3 in my 1988 wellcraft and I love it. Pulls me up on a single ski (235 lbs) With 2 or 3 people on board I can get it up to about 50 mph.

Enjoy

Re: Does the 4.3 have enough?

Depends on the boat and setup of the motor. I have a 1996 Wellcraft 195 with the Vortec 4.3L and the 4 Barrel and the VP SX Drive. I just put a new 14.5X18P 4 Blade stainless prop on mine and got it all tuned up this winter and it leaps out of the water. Top speed is only around 40MPH at 4600 rpm but I am guessing that I could pull a stump out of the lake with all of the torque it has on take off. So it depends. In the end "There is no replacement for displacement" but a properly sorted V6 will do great on an 18 foot boat. Mine is almost 20 feet long and it has plenty of poop now.
