Does the intake manifold on a 4.3LX V-6 seal the water jacket

Folks, It looks like I may need to replace the intake manifold on my 4.3L V-6. Does the raw water cooling system come in contact with either the manifold itself, or its bolts. I am concerned about corrosion on these bolts when I go to replace it.

yes.<br /> if the engine is raw water cooled it will. if its freshwater cooled it is not supposed to <br /> good luck and keep the heat handy.

Chris may I ask why you think you need to replace it!<br />Unless your getting water in the oil or in the cylinders.<br />Chk your other post <br /><br />Rich

Check around the thermostat area inside the housing?

Wellcraft, I have some bad rusting of the intake manifold near no. 1 cylinder. I try to keep it oiled up, but I think one day it may rust through.<br />Blk-n-Blu, Thanks for reminding me about the thermostat. It is certainly on the intake manifold. Boy does that *&^%!
