Does this engine have points or electronic?

Not the best picture but maybe someone knows - Not sure on the year as it was a replacement when I bought the boat. I bought plugs for it so when I get it out of storage I can tune it up. Can you tell be looking at this picture if it has points? I'm guessing it doeas as it has the external coil but I never took it apart. Boat is in storage not near me so I can not look at it. It's a 260 Mercruiser.

Any help is appreceiated.

Ayuh,... Looks like a T-Bolt IV,.... No points....

If that is your 86 Sea Ray, it has a Thunderbolt IV all electronic ignition system. Including the advance.

Those amplifiers (advance) create problems both low & hi speed. If your chasin' something, speak up!

No, Not chasing anything - Getting stuff rounded up for a spring tune up. Boat is not near by so I figured I would ask. It is not the original power for my 86, It was re-powered before I got it.

The external coil threw me off. Can a hi-performance coil be added or is that a no-no on a marine application?
