No way to tell by looking at it. I could just as well have 1000 hours and just been cleaned up .

4 hours as in installed new out of the box,at 8AM, then removed at 12PM and photographed ... YES.
Installed, say October 2004,then sold and run 4hrs, Quite possibly.
Where are we going with this, can you describe the problem a little?

DHP

Sorry,my first answer should have been NO,not new
right out of a box.

I always thought OHC parts were $$$ but didn't realize a head alone could cost that much.

However,if just (only ?) a connecting rod broke and did damage,it's hard to relate that to head and manifold problems. If a piston stuck,or a crank or wrist pin bearing froze due to water.. maybe.

Engine failure is not always proportional to the cost of the parts, even tho it seems that it should be.

Tell us more ?

DHP

Looking at a few small pictures isn't the way I would go about saying if a head and manifold was any good or how long they were used.
Some things have to be physically inspected, and measured. Things like why there are 3 square ports and 1 round on your first picture of the head.

It looks nice and shiny, but who knows. Only way to really tell is measure things out.
Wonder why and how his rod broke? Possibly the head leaking water into a cylinder? One picture has a little corrosion, carbon or something to the far right.
Probably a good deal, but have to look at it in person to see.

big

looking at the bottom of the head it is easy to see that it was polished with something as you cant see any machineing marks which is strange for 4 hours

and the manifold also looks pretty bad for only 4 hours the orginal paint is not that bad

tommays
