Well ..... that chart just messed me up ... LOL. From '62? I know the Corry that is pictured in that catalog that you had sent is exactly like mine from the lines on the bow to the way the cap goes around to the transom. The project boat in that link that you just sent has the lines on the bow but the cap is different and I don't have a splash well. Very interesting tho. How do you find this stuff? I search and search and can't find anything.

That's interesting ..... and all of the paperwork that I find state that the horsepower rating is 30hp but on my capacity tag it is marked max 20hp. I just can't figure out how the can drop it like that.

Jon, I bet that is not the original plate. I think a 30 H.P. on your boat would be fine...

Many, many Moons ago, Each boat manufacturer rated their own boats for max H.P. This lead to a lot of confusion, not mention some companies over rating things.
In the late '50s or early '60s (I believe), it became apparent that a set of "standards" were needed. A coalition was formed called OBC Outboard Club of America. They took on the task of standardizing many of the boat building requisites. OBC rating plates were on boats up to the mid to late '60s. I am writing this all from memory... but you guys get the idea...;)

Thanks Ed ..... very informative. I used that formula from the Coast Guard and punched in my numbers and it came out to 20hp.
