Buddy has a Baja with red gelcoat that was really faded bad.
He used Vertiglas 2 seasons ago and it still looks great.
Boat is stored outside, too.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of redoing the clearcoat by respraying and all that good stuff, but I am thinking of trying this out first before I drop a few hundred dollars. The boat's clear finish isn't all that bad I just want to give it a little face lift.

I had a boat that I thought was gray and white. After using the Vert glas, I found out it was blue and white. That stuff is amazing and lasts too. I used the boat for two summers and couldnt tell a difference when I sold it.

I have seen boats done with vertiglas and they looked great. There is one thing I have been told by the owners of there boats. You must follow the directions to the T . If you vary in the prep or the direction of the strokes while applying you will not get the best results.Plan on the job taking longer then you expect, to do it correctly.Charlie

Don't do it. I did my entire boat with it a few years back. The next season, it started to yellow, but not all over. It was patchy. The removal of Vertglas is very difficult as well.

It looked fantastic when I first did it, but didn't stand the test of time.

Re: Does this really work ????

I used Vertglas on my boat last fall. It is a maroon bass boat that I could buff and wax and the next week was chalky white. Now, about 15 month after using Vertglas it still is looking like new. Had a few comments about my boat just the other week.

It did take about a day and a half to get the boat looking right when I first put it on, but it was easy work, just time consuming. So far I am very pleased with the stuff. Time will tell.

Thanks for the input. The more I hear the more I think I am going to use the Vertglas system.

I first used it on my white/blue/red Vista. As said before it takes a little time at first to make sure you have removed all the old oxidization. After that all I do is apply one coat each spring and it looks great all year. The only drawback is that gasoline will peel it. My filler is right by the splash well and if the gas spills I have to re-do the vertglas in the well. Apart from this its great !
