does this sound like a starter problem 1973 CHRYSLER 130

i took my boat to the shop had it fixed they said it runs great but i get it on the water and doesnt start then the stater got really hot then doesnt spin aqnymore all i get when i try to start it all i get is a click and no starter movement i already ordered a new starter will be in tomorrow just wanted to make sur that what it is oh and yes i did put a brand new battery in it yesterday and charged te 3 week old oine today and trie that one but no luck just the click PLEASE HELP ME OUT ANY ADVISE IS GREALY APRECIATED THANK EVERYONE

Don't change that starter until you KNOW it need changing, PP.

Go to the Engine FAQs and do the starter circuit troubleshooting in "Outboard won't start".

Your symptoms are classic for a bad connection from the battery ground to the engine block, except that you may have burned up the starter and created a second problem..

thank you and the starter was the problem she was burned out but it was the oringal starter that came with the boat its a 72 -73
