I sort of questioned its truth to start with, but I guess it is.
Must be all over your news.
Cheers

Tasha sits on the floor at the table, and gets all kind of stuff from Syl.

No he does not get table scraps, never has, so has no interest in the table except maybe to lay on it when were not around. Guess what he is? ;)

i missed the story too phil....

neither of my present cats seem to like table food as well as kitty yum yums bought at the store.....
that's the two cats i have now. Ziggy (who died, rip) on the other hand loved people food. i remember one thanksgiving. i'm carving the turkey. and with my back turned to the turkey on the table, and out of the corner of my eye. there's Ziggys paw, with claws out, standing on the floor to reach the turkey table, feeling around till he got what he wanted. a nice piece of freshly sliced white breast meat goes on to the floor. and off he ran... a happy cat.. guess he had his thanksgiving too.. he was the most persistent cat i've ever seen when it came to people food. made every meal a challenge guarding your food...
so yes. my cats not only sit at the table, they sit on the table... :D

Citing neighbours, local media said the chimp was normally well behaved and engaged in human activity such as surfing the Internet and watching baseball on TV. He reportedly sat at the dinner table, ate expensive steaks and drank wine, brushing his teeth afterward.
to bad about the chimp.. sounds real well behaved.... darned illness even attacks primates.... hope the ladys alright the sick chimp attacked... yep, it made news here too..

I did not see it in the news, my opinion is that the chimp's behaviour is not much different than the behaviour depicted by a lot of humans.
Not saying what is right, wrong or acceptable, but just my general observation.

Yea he is a long haired cat named Buster. He's mostly white with some black spots, black tail and 1/2 of his head is Black. Good guess. You too must have a cat or two. Buster likes to lay on the dining room table and look out the slider watching the birds and turkeys.

We have 2 cats one Siamese, Ms. Miaugi, and a black and white tabby we call fatamus catsmus, aka Slick, because he looks like and oil slick, lol:D just kidding he is named after a dear friend who was murdered 2 years ago. His nickname was slick rick, so we named the cat after him. They both like to lie on the beds and window sills.

Our dog is raised in the pack mentality. She does not hang near the table while we eat. She eats after us. She walks behind us. She is not allowed on the beds. She is only allowed on the couch when given the command to come up.

She is a pretty well behaved dog. Every few months she needs to be reminded to come when called, not when she is done sniffing out whatever she is interested in.

She is like having another kid.

Dogs are better trained and mind much better than Cats. Cats have a mind of their own. Though my Cat is usually pretty good at coming when I call him. They say People have Dogs and Cats have Staff. ;)

He would if he could, but the slobbers are so disgusting an unappetizing :D He sleeps by my side of the bed. Even with the king size bed, I would have to kick the wife out for enough room. I measured his chest at 44".

The story about the chimp is sad. I heard that a few years ago it went on a rampage around town that took several hours to catch it. I have wondered if the chimp felt a bit jealous of his owners friend? Probably more to the story than what is reported.

No way the dog goes by itself in the cage when it's time for dinner.

No never. We didn't want them begging and under our feet while we're eating. They don't.

We had a cat once that begged. We fixed it by offering it black olives and jalapenos every time it begged. The cat wouldn't eat either one and must have figured that's all we ever ate because it finally stopped begging.

Re: Does your pet sit at the table with you.....

What's with the excited 'NO' answers?

My dogs don't sit at the table, as dog hair migrates into our food enough as it is. They normally lay down at my feet, which is no different from where my dogs are as I type this. I don't lock them up, I don't dress them up, I let them be near me as they enjoy and it suits me as well (who else is going to lick my hands clean or clean the floor if I drop something.. usually on purpose?)

I feel bad for the pets with owners who don't treat them as family. I have enough neighborhood dogs whining because their owners leave them outside in subfreezing weather and no laws to protect the dogs from these abusive people to cause a lifetime of sadness. Why cause more by treating your pet as an object which can only come out when you want to use it?

Oh, and it's easy to pick out the animal haters (yet they still own one).. I would never call either of my dogs an 'it'. They have names, genders and are part of our family.
