First of all, sorry to hear about your family. Second, its crazy that both vehicles exploded! And lastly, the driver may not have been drunk... he could have been a diabetic or something...

Re: Dont drink and drive.

Sorry for you losses.

I too have been affected by drinking and driving.. But on the other end.

Buddy of mine I grew up with since kindergarten. Best friends since high school. After high school, we went separate ways. Nothing bad just different roads. We'd bump into each other from time to time and catch up.

Last month in the early morning, He pulled out on to a back county hwy and hit a motor cycle. The cycle driver died in the hospital.

He's being charged with "homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle"
Here's the article
He goes back to court Aug 20

Sad thing, this is his 2nd DUI, He had one back in 2001

Re: Dont drink and drive.

Unfortunately a lot of us have been affected by a drunk driver. 73Glasspar, you have my condolences. I feel your pain. I just lost a Brother in Law about 6 hours ago due to cancer. Way back in 1979 my wife was hit head on by a drunk driver that had just gotten out of jail THAT MORNING from a DWI the night before. She was not expected to make it through the night but she did and is still here! She just recently had to have both knees replaced because of the crash. He had no insurance on his car and his dad sold insurance.

Re: Dont drink and drive.

Thank you,

Im sorry to hear others had to go through this senseless and preventable tragedy. It is never easy to deal with the loss of loved ones and if the circumstances were different...... I would have never posted about what one faces. We all go through it and have to accept death is inevitable. But when its done in a fashion that can affect ones decision to make the right choice....... It is worth posting.

Again, Thank you for all the kind heart felt words.

Dave.

Re: Dont drink and drive.

A terrible tragedy. No doubt.

Drinking and driving is a deadly and criminal thing to do. Also no doubt.

However: The article quoted a non-medical person that alcohol "may have been involved". No evidence is offered to support that speculation. That is not grounds to accuse one of the dead of murder.

There are several medical situations that could have caused the solo driver to behave as described. Hypoglycemia is one. Myocardial infarct (heart attack) is another.

Been there. It is terrifying and worse than being very drunk. Please don't shoot from the hip. The dead man's family deserve better.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. :(

I try to be fair, but I will eat my hat if the investigation shows there was no alcohol involved.
