Dont even know the outboard's make can you help please

Hi -

I know its crazy but I have just aquired a boat and engine with no make on the engine ,can you help ? there are several m's in various places and a no be60elcod and below g104744 .

could it be a mariner 60 ?? no idea can you help thanks

It's an Evenrude 60hp, 1985

be60elcod is the model number which tells you the following

B = made in Belgium
E = Evinrude (J = Johnson)
60 = 60hp
E = Electric start
L= Longshaft
C = 8 and O=5 hence 1985
D is a production code

Normally you can find parts diagrams and numbers on the brp website at "http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=e" but it is not working at present. Alternatively "http://www.crowleymarine.com/index.cfm"

The M in a squared circle is OMC's trademark. Now BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products). Anyway, the parent company of Evinrude and Johnson.
