I hear ya Mag, my theory on that is that when we were 10,(41 now),a year was a whole tenth of our life, now a year is only 1/40th of our life. Time does fly by faster now.

Re: Don't feel like I expected to.

I turned 30 yesterday. Getting older isn't really bothering me, but I find myself thinking more about the simple things I haven't done.... those trips to the lake I had planned that got dropped when work called, that boat I want to build for my dad jsut to see the look on his face(in progress), etc. The list goes on, and on.

Happy Birthday JB. If ever you find yourself in Middle TN, There's a seat in my Glastron.

I was going to post something -- what was it?? Oh well, guess I'll take the trash out ... but what'd I do with my keys? Oh, 'scuse me, hope you didn't hear that last one, nevermind.

What?

If only I felt as young as I am... still, it's better than I deserve; even if I am skidding on the ramp, so to speak, I ain't in the lake yet...

Happy b'day...

Re: Don't feel like I expected to.

That's interesting, JB.

I recently turned 58, and along with a few health problems, all in all not too much to complain about. Generally I don't think I've changed much mentally, but the mind sometimes writes checks the old body can't cash any more.

And I don't know about the world getting more vulgar. Many houses around me are rented by college kids, and they make much better neighbors than some of the old judgemental fuddy-duddy types, and they have been for the most part really good kids.

And maybe I had a rougher childhood than most, but I think we've made significant progress over all as a society--its not been even progress, perhaps, but progress none the less.

And time does fly by. My oldest daughter just turned 29--it doesn't seem like hardly any time has passed since I last changed her diaper.

But my two girls both have university degrees, and as far as a measure of worth of parenting, that's not too bad in my book. I can honestly say I did as good as I could with them, and you can't say too much more than that.

Happy Birthday JB!

I don't have the foggiest idea what you are talking about. See, when I turned 29 I quit having birthdays. Now, I just have anniversaries, and the end of September I had the 15th anniversary of my 29th birthday. Yea, I agree that the world sure is changing. That is why it is important that us good guys keep reminding the younger generation the way it ought to be. Maybe one day they will see the wisdom of age and follow the lead of your generation.

Re: Don't feel like I expected to.

Many happy returns of the day JB!

I try not to dwell on the age thing....(I'm 58+)...still got all the original equipment..(although some some of the parts don't function like they used to....and I'll let it go at that..)I feel good and enjoy early morning. Seems the only thing that really makes me aware of time moving on is watching my grandkids grow up. Seems like not long ago number seven hit the deck and now shes' about to turn two years old.

Times and people change....for better or worse and most times not the way we would like to see it. Don't dwell on it. Just live everyday the way JB would want to and enjoy it. You still got a long haul ahead of ya'. 70 is just a number.

And I do think rodbolt got a good idea..... :) .

Re: Don't feel like I expected to.

JB, celebrating seventy in todays world can be considered routine. With medical deals and all.

But what strikes me as truly wonderful is what you have personally lived. The Presidential Elections, societies changes, Globalization as I know it, products on the shelves of the grocery store. Some of the more striking "important" big time changes in the world. As well as the day to day growth, or recession, we as a people experience in our daily lives.

Happy Birthday My friend.......I Do hope to wear your shoes in the future as I am now a young forty seven. That said, forty seven in my boots causes reflections that you have seen already.

Best To You,

Pat

Happy Birthday JB:
quote by JB
__________________________________________________
I wonder what things others have noticed about aging.
__________________________________________________
Funny you ask I was sitting in my tree stand this evening watching two does and a yearling feed by and asked myself how many more years would I be able to climb into a tree to hunt or walk the fields for pheasants. Boating alone is getting harder every year as I launch and recover my boat by my self about 95% of the time.
