I know it gets mentioned in some posts, but I thought it deserves a headline. When draining the block be sure to straighten out a paperclip and poke it through the various drain valves to be sure you have all the water out. I was sure all the water had come out of mine. Poked it and couldn't believe how much more water had been held back by a chunk of rust on my '84 5.0. Would have been a very sick suprise next May.
