Good Advice, we ( as a whole) forget too often. Thanks!

I thought the hardwired ones were not any good? They say that 40% of the time when the detector needs to be in use(going off) that there is no electricity in the home. Just curious as we were told to change out our hard wired ones a few years back.

Never heard that but it sure makes sense. Guess I am buying 2 battery operated ones today to supplement our hard wired ones.

Re: Don't forget

I may be wrong{it happened once before ;)} but I think most hardwired alarms also have a battery backup built with-in...and as with battery only protectors, they too should be tested monthly as well as an occasional vacuuming/dusting.

Dunno about that, but mine have lithium batteries in them too- in case of a power outage. And yes , they should be tested on a bi-annual basis according to our fire dept anyway.
