Re: Don't get the Political Rants & Raves

I personally lean towards the republican side. However I'm getting to the point where I'm completely turned off by politics as a whole because that's exactly what it is, politics. You tell this group one thing and tell the next group in the next town what they want to hear. another thing that turns me off is the fact that you have to be a millionaire to run for federal office it seems. I would personally like to see a middle class blue collar worker who knows values and isn't afraid to say it like it is, and won't cater to this group or that group be able to run. It seems more and more like it's the same few people running for president, meaning they are all pretty much the same just in a different package. I for one think it's time for a change, but probably won't see it in my lifetime.

On a side note, I live in Indiana. I saw a news story this morning where a group of people dunked their property tax bills into a lake to protest our property tax rates which skyrocketed this year(some as much 150%). It will be interesting to see the role property taxes play in our next elections for governor and state representatives for the statehouse. I'm going to predict quite a few disappointed incumbents.

Wow, I am actually kind of impressed. On some other forums I use this would have turned into a flame fest. On others political and religious discussion is not allowed since it usually degrades into personal attacks. For the most part what I have seen here is people stating their personal opinions in a non threatening (for lack of a better word) manner.

OMR, no lefty here.

Sorry fer the Label, most people from Eastern WA tend to agree with me perspectives more then the ones on the wet side of the mountains.

When I said "reasonable amount of taxes" I mean low taxes.

Amen.

Got to pay for roads, defence, fire protection ect. somehow.

That is true.

More days than not I think "spent wisely" may be a pipe dream but it doesn't hurt to hope.

PIPE DREAM it is!!

That's why ya never give 'em a raise in taxes. This is one of the heaver taxed states in the Union. They need to make due with less here in Washington or yer not paying attention. The union organized State n' County workers is the fastest growin' sector in this Socialist Republic. I talked to one that I'm dealing with in DNR that was talkin' about a bunch of different projects she was workin' on to fine people doing things with their own private property. Wonderfull. I've had more then my share of run in and lawsuits with Socialists wantin' to mind me own business fer me. NO SUCH THING AS TAX DOLLARS SPENT WISELY in a state the blows up a perfectly good dome with a brand new roof (put there by the highest priced union labor ya can buy). [Guess who the unions back in elections to install leaders who always require the most expensive labor you can find to build public projects.] After the perfectly good dome was blown up they built two of the most expensive stadiums on the planet fer the billionares to collect the rent n' millionares, (many gang bangers to play on). WONDERFULL:I say!! Now can they fix a truly important transportation problem? The Alaskan Way Viaduct rates 20 on the same scale that the Minnesota bridge that fell into the river rated 50. So ya never want to voluntarily give these jokers one dime of yer life's energy to hire their union pals to create more problems for all of us. It has to jack you Eastern WA guys even more then it does me!!

And I don't like the nanny state any more than you do.

Sure hope not, ol' Murky needs all the thinkers he can find.

One example is the WA mandated CO sticker on boats.

Yes WHAT A JOKE, (a make work joke). I'll bet the printer of those stickers is a real well cornected dim wit DEM. That's how things work here in God's Counrty!!

I'm smart enough to keep people in the water away from the motor when it's running. besides the sticker looks like shxx on my old Fiberform.

Yup.

Also, I can explain my stand on forest policy with a short statement, I work in the wood products industry. No greenie either. So, if you want me to label myself I'd have to say moderate Republican.

I luv trees n' the environment. That said: trees make good products and if properly managed the environment is just fine. Respectfully, (sorry fer the label) JR
