dont know what i just received. is this a 402?

i managed to get a older mercury, nut i dont know what it is. its missing the cover, but the serial number is 3408515
i think its a 402, but unsure.

yes looks same as mine 1979 40 HP 2 cylinder 2 stroke AKA 402 only difference is you have a pull start cowel with recoil so the year may be different View attachment 90261

thank you so much! now if i can get this thing hung on the bayliner and running, i will be so happy i think this is going to be more reliable than the chrysler?

if you don,t have a lower transome it will cavitate (ventilate get the engine as low as you can in the water try to get the tail fin you measured even or at least with in 2 inches of the keel to work properley
