Ladies and Gents,

I normally don't make a habit talking bad about businesses, but I have to on this one.

I ordered some parts from SeaTemp.com on Aug 27. Shipping advertised as 2/3 day priority w/in 5-10 days. On 3 Sep, I called and asked for the status of my order. He told me that the parts had been shipped 2/3 day and that I would receive them any day. I called back on 9 Sep and got answer machine so I e-mailed him. He replied with "they've been shipped 2/3 day. Hmmm, ok. 3 days later I e-mailed again and got same reply "they've been shipped 2/3 day." OK, now I'm peed. I e-mail back and ask him to cancel order, no reply. I e-mail again and call, answer machine and no e-mail reply nor return phone call. I call the next day, answer machine/no return call.

So now I call my credit card company and dispute the charge. I just hung up the phone and Capital One assures me that they will take care of it and have refunded my $115.

Each of you need to make your own decisions on who you buy parts from, but I discourage you from using Sea Temp. If someone else has had good dealing with Sea Temp, I'm happy for you, if you've had bad, I feel your pain.

Sorry to ramble on, but I want all to know!

Alex

Checkout local BBB on this company. If orders can't be resolved maybe a call to Federal Trade Commission is in line.Good luck getting a human being on the phone at either.

Sorry about your difficulties with this company guys. Just a note on shipping, which we do on a daily basis. When they say they shipped something, ask them who the shipper was and what the tracking number is. Fed Ex, and UPS have online tracking of your package on their websites. You can see when your package was scanned into their distribution centers, even when it gets loaded on the truck bound for your business/house. They can also let you know who signed for it in the case that the person said it was received and you have not seen it. If they can't or won't get you a tracking number, they are either to unorganized to do business with or they have not shipped it. I have also had companies give me a random number that obviously does not work as a stalling tactic. Note: if you have the address of the company or where they are shipping from and call UPS or Fed Ex, they usually will even be able to tell you if they picked up a package bound for your address. Thanks for the warning on the company. Good luck on the resolution. Be glad you bought by Credit card, just don't wait past 30 days or even that will not help.

Ha Guys -- The next time you order parts you might try your local Carquest store. If you are near one of the warehouses you will be suprised on how many outboard motor parts they handle.I can get everything I need for my 40 hp there. I was realy suprised and will go there first from now on .Jim

James 46, you inland boys are probably being taken care of by your local franchises cause carquest on the gulf coast where I'm at not only doesn't stock outboard parts , but has no wholesale connections to get them.Glad to hear they're available for you and hopefully at descent prices.

Yo ob,
Ya probably know this but I get super service with marine parts from my NAPA guy. He gave me a NAPA Marine Parts Catalog (Sierra stuff) and can get dang near anything they have in the catalog over night.

c/6

Hooty

Roger the waterpump kits. Get your NAPA Dealer to give you one of thier marine catalogs. It doesn't cost them anything and you can explain to him that it will save him time if you know the part nrs. when you come in. Lots of neat caca in it.

c/6

Hooty

Hooty! Be very careful! The stuff from NAPA is NOT OMC or Merc or Yamaha's. It is indeed Sierra.

Think about it!

Guys...I don't dispute what you say about oem parts but I had a Sierra water pump impeller and a genuine Merc impeller side by side...they looked identical. I didn't put them under a microscope to compare but otherwise they were twins. I bought the Merc but left the store thinking both came out of the same mold. Maybe the rubber is different?

Hey, ad4par1, very small world. I grew up in Cocoa Beach.

bp

Yeah, I know there's a difference between the Sierra and OEM parts. I use the OEM parts where it counts. Thanks for tha tip though.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Don't Order SeaTemp.com parts!

Many moons ago, Mercury had to eat their words. They kept saying that Sierra impellers were inferior to the OEM impellers. I guess enough was enough and Sierra took them to court. Came to find out the impellers came from the same source. This was sometime back in the eighties when the OEM prices were really over priced. Now a days the OEM's try to compete with the aftermarket guys. Being a Yamaha dealer, its a bunch cheaper to buy their impellers and kits than aftermarket.
