I have a 2000 Doral 300 SC and love the hull design. The sharp bow breaks the waves without causing water to crash up over the bow. The profile even lets you travel with the side ports open while out in chop. I got stuck out in the big open water of Georgian Bay in 14ft waves during a MAJOR storm this August and other than burning alot more fuel than normal, had no problems with this boat. No pitching or violent rolling and none of the cupboards or cabinets opened up. I would never want to go out in waves like that again but it sure made me confident in the excellent hull design and performance characteristics of this boat. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

My 2cents worth!

Re: Doral 300 SC Review

Firstly its great to see someone posting here in this section. Please make a habit of it. I feel lonely in this section.
I am glad to hear that you are happy with your boat and its performance in bad conditions. I will bear this in mind if i am ever moving up the ladder in size. I just have a 164 runabout with a 140hp Johnson on the back. Great for skiing, tubing and fishing but not for the conditions you describe.

Ditto on rough weather handling. While I've only been trapped a couple of times in 4-6 ft choppy waters, the boat has handled it like a champ.
Very good ride compared to comparable express cruisers... partly due to being relatively heavy boats and partly must be due to great hull design.

Re: Doral 300 SC Review

Even my "baby" Doral will handle heavy weather (for it's size) with very little troubles. It is a heavy hull for it's size and needs the 140hp to utilise it's capabilities. One day I will move up to a bigger one but not till it is just the wife and I as the children (5) of them and their friends etc just love to tube and ski off this one. I will most likely keep this one as well for some "zipping around" fun.
