Doral Tara not going into gear

good day all.
I am experiencing an issue with my Doral '86 Tara. New to me this year and when I slow right down to dock, slide into neutral and try to resume forward the engine stays in neutral (revs). I thought this was me not being "aggressive" enough on the thrust, but seems to be a regular situation under the above circumstances. Goes into reverse no problem. I have stalled it a few times during this process and it starts up fine and goes into forward once it's stalled? I have a Merc 205 v6 and the upgraded throttle with the neutral button. I'm hoping it's a throttle handle issue and not a transmission issue. Any thoughts or experiences that can help me out? Thank you in advance. Kyle

Start at the cheap end first and check the throttles and cables, as you move back towards the drive things get progressively more expensive! Hopefully you will find the adjustment is out and or a faulty neutral switch... the fact that it stalls is a worry! mine did that as a result of a failing drive.

Mine was stalling when coming in to dock, come to find out I needed to replace both shift cables and solenoid. Now it shifts just like new.
