Does anyone know what the Max rated HP might be for a 20'5" 1959 Dorsett Farallon model Cabin Cruiser?

That is a very difficult one as there are very few of these boats out there. You might have to use the USCG formula to figure it out.

Re: Dorsett Farallon

I have some pictures but this site does not allow direct attachment to replys or questions. This boat also has a Flying Bridge attached which does not show in any of the pictures I have found. I am considering adding a completly rebuilt 120HP Force motor and am wondering if it might be too much?

Barry6743,I have a 1998 trophy 19 ft cc with a 120 force on it. The 120 does not have enough power for my boat.Even running a prop with 2 " less pitch than I need.......Still slow to plan off.Too slow to plan in rough water..

I will only be using it in the lower part of the Sacramento River (current 5-10 knots )and I don't usually travel more than 5-10 miles to my fishing spots and I have a 23deg pitch prop to push it along with although a 17-19 would probably be better.

Running a 17 pitch on mine, turning 300 to 400 rpm over wot for the 120 motor.

Re: Dorsett Farallon

The guy that owned the motor I'm buying felt that he wasn't getting enough speed so he opted for the higher pitch prop. I have one brand new and another just like it on the motor. I'd like to swap the new one for one with 17-19 pitch.

Re: Dorsett Farallon

I need a 19 pitch on mine, but that would kill my hole shot, two slow planing with the 17.Bought a set of smart tabs, but have not installed them yet.Hope they will help my hole shot, then maybe a 19 pitch which put my rpms where they need to be at wot....

Re: Dorsett Farallon

My boat already has a pair of cavitation plates mounted on either side of the stern which should help it plane faster but if I use the 23 pitch prop it may be a moot point.
