Hello all:

I am in the process of restoring an old double line gas tank for a 56 Johnson 5.5-hp outboard. I am wondering: I am now looking at an exploded view of the pressurized fuel tank assembly (Clymer Old Outboard Motor Manual, Vol 1, p. 170, Fig OM3-8). There are MANY component pieces and I am wondering if there are any nuances to taking this thing apart and putting it back together again.

I am also aware that the tank must maintain a pressure of 2-5 psi in order for it to get up to the motor. Is there any thing special for accomplishing this, or is just putting it back together correctly and fairly tightly with a new hose good enough? Is taking the apparatus apart even a good idea? I figured it would be, in order to well observe how much corrosion there is on the bottom of the tank, in addition to determining the condition of the gas tank inlet tube.

Thanks in advance y'all for your help.
