Double-sided carpet tape

I know there are some on this board that don't like the idea of carpet in a boat. . . But I'm going to ask the question anyway. . .

Instead of using glue to bond carpet to metal/wood, has anyone tried the Duck brand double-sided carpet tape??? I tried some on a few areas this weekend and it seems to hold very well--but I'm curious if anyone has any long-term experience with this material or technique?? What about temperatures---does the tape slip, slide, or melt underneath the carpet when the summer sun is beating down??

I like the idea of tape because it seems easier to clean (versus dried carpet glue) should I decide to remove/change the carpet a few years down the road. . . Any thoughts would be great! Thanks!

My project is coming along nicely and I'll post updated pics ASAP. . .

Re: Double-sided carpet tape

it will not hold up. you should do something like the snap in removable carpet so of the new boats are coming with.
