We went out shooting yesterday and for the 1st time (owned SKS for 18 yrs) it did a few double taps (is semi auto), a "nifty" surprise :) I imagine the sear is getting worn? Easy gun to work on.
And then my Colt .4 wouldnt pop slide back on last shot/ I'm thinking may have been the clips, as I used 2 spare ones and left the other two I usually use at home. Any ideas? Thanks guys

Shrug my shoulders on the SKS but yes wear is the culprit and that "condition" will get worse and you might get a run away.

The .45 is in my ballpark and absolutely it is the mag. I am very very picky with my 45 mags and have found the McCormick work just about the best due to a special follower and good quality.

You're SKS trigger needs reworked. Here is a site of a guy who does marvelous work on SKS triggers. Not a bad price either.
After I had mine reworked, the trigger pull doesn't feel like a cement block being dragged off a step.
And I highly recommend that everyone should get their SKS trigger reworked to make the rifle shoot like it never could before. http://www.kivaari.com/

Thanks! So I'm guessing he can fix the rapid fire and tuneup trigger?

I have had several doubles on my SKS rifles over the years. Most of the time it is dirty or dry. Before sending the trigger group out for repair, remove it, clean with brake clean and lube it back up. Another issue with the SKS is the firing pin sticking. Remove the bolt, disassemble, clean with brake cleaner, inspect for burs on the firing pin and bolt body. Many times cosmoline is the cause of the firing pin sticking, especially with an SKS. When you test fire it only load 2 rounds, you don't want to draw attention to yourself. It is a shame to say, but the BATFE considers a malfunctioning firearm the doubles or goes full auto a machine gun. There are/have been people prosecuted for "illegal machine guns" when they had an honest malfunctioning firearm.

I had an SKS once. Biggest piece of crap I ever shot. I'd fire a round and the d**n thing would eject the spent casing and a live round.

I owned a Colt .45 once too. I regret selling that gun everyday.
