not saying you can't, but having grown up towing heavy loads, including ones larger than what you have, I have yet to see a load that will stop quicker than the tow vehicle unloaded. Unloaded duelly trucks will generally stop from 60-0 in the 140 to 150 ft range, which is bad for even a cheap economy car (under 120ft or so, even minivans can lurch to a stop in under 130ft). Although it might not seem like it, I'd guess your stopping distance is probably in the 200+ ft range, minimum. Think of it this way, that is three vehicle lengths of your load!

I have 12 tires on the ground with brakes and 4 without and can stop as well as many cars tho it makes a hell of a mess in the RV..... Ideally I would have brakes in the jeep too but I don't yet.
