I bought my first Lund (1700ps) last summer and now im looking to mount my scotty downriggers. Can anyone advise me on location and different ways to mount? Thanks in advance for your help.

How about utilizing the Sport Trak system if the boat came with this option?

Re: downrigger mounting

Scotty makes a removable downrigger mount that fits fairly well onto the Lund rail. I purchased them so I could move them around and find the perfect spot. In the end I never did do a permanent mount as they worked so well. At least for the hand crank models.

Re: downrigger mounting

Fishing Junky,

I wasn't aware that there was a way to use to Sport Trak to hold a downrigger.

My 16' Explorer has two manual downriggers fixed forward of the storage compartments. This is nice, however with a tiller drive I need to step away from the tiller to adjust the ball height, etc. This is fine in calm conditions, but when the wind is up, it's not a great idea.

To that end, it would be great to place the downriggers closer to me. Do you have any pictures or links of this method of mounting a downrigger? I have read that there is a clamp on version, but I'd like to utilize the Sport Trak.

Thanks.

David
