DP-SM Raw water hose fitting stuck

Pulled the DP-SM drive for gimble inspection and to lube the drive shaft splines and for the life of me I can't get the hose fitting pushed thru the pivot housing. My first time pulling the drive on a VP (SX-MHP Transom Shield) the manual says to just push it thru as far as you can. It has some sort of adhesive at the point where the threads mate with the pivot housing. Can't put heat to it as its plastic. I've beat on it with a rubber mallet and it wont budge. It can't be threaded as the square block is firmly seated in its housing on the back side and of course the hose clamp is facing in a direction where I cant get to it. The manual says there's a drain hole that needs to face down on the nipple. Where is the drain hole located? With the amount of adhesive around this thing It's my belief that its probably plugged. I really don't need to separate the hose from the pivot housing to replace gimble and bellows as I can pull it to the side BUT I'm concerned about the drain hole possibly being plugged and the bolt holding the ground cable on the pivot housing snapped off so a bench repair is needed. Am I missing something or do I just bust it off and replace the fitting?

And one more question......The manual states to use 3M adhesive on the water passage o ring. Is this just to hold it in place during assembly? Which 3M adhesive? Wouldn't grease work?

Thanks

I've run into the same issue with the fitting being difficult to remove due to housing corrosion. I just swung the rubber mallet harder to get it out. This is with pivot housing removed. I then cleaned up the corrosion and applied liberal grease when I installed the new one. I did this for preventative maintenance since these plastic fittings can fail and cause overheat when on plane.

The purpose of the drain hole is to allow raw water hose drainage when you remove the drain plug on the side of the drive in the same area, if you drive has this. My drain plug was also corroded and blocked. I've found that the raw water drains fine just by trimming the drive all the way down. To ensure this, I remove the inlet hose at the raw water pump and blow on it when I winterize to ensure most of the water is out of the drive.

Overall you can just leave the stuck fitting in place and just ensure the drive is free of water when you winterize. If you ever run into overheating issues when on plane, check the fitting for cracking/separation.

Regarding the b-shaped O-ring, I just use some Triple Guard grease, or equivalent, to hold the O-ring in place while the drive is re-installed. I don't think adhesive is required.

I think you are gonna have to get on that clamp screw somehow and loosen it. Then you can pull the hose off the backside. FYI-there is a window cut in the pivot housing that should allow you to reach the clamp screw, but apparently the previous owner did not align that properly.
You should be able to turn with a wrench the black plastic nipple and unscrew out. Yours was probably put in without lube and has siezed. You may have to cut it out. When reinstalling, apply underwater grease on the threads to keep from siezing up next time. I am not aware of any drain hole to align in the down position. Instead of 3M adhesive, just use underwater trippleguard grease.
