Skydive left out some very important tools for pulling drives;

Steel Toed boots
A very strong son
lounge chair
beer
money for strong son

:joyous: I happen to be the strongish son but I'm the boat owner so I have to pay for the beer AND do the work for free! :disturbed:

Maybe when the lube was changed last, the o-rings/gaskets weren't replaced on all the plugs and you got some seepage through those.

I did the last lube change and replaced all the o-rings.

... So unless some got in when you did not expect it, say like when you're checking the dipstick, the shop is pulling a fast one. ...

None of the plugs were removed during the season, at least by me, and the only time anyone else had access to the boat was when it was at the shop for the bellows change. I will certainly have to keep a check on the lube condition now.

Did you ever get an explanation of why the gimbal bearing was replaced so early? If not for water intrusion or a noisy bearing, I'd start to suspect that this shop isn't being exactly honest with you.

While I do not want to suspect the shop replaced parts that didn't need to be replaced nor want to believe they caused the water ingress (either unintentionally or otherwise - I did decline a 'winterizing' service, telling them I would be doing it), I am going to be looking for another place to do what work I feel it best not to tackle myself.

Appreciate everyone's comments.

So, how did you put the o-ring on the fill/drain plug? The one behind the props. That one is tricky because its easy to mess it up on the threads. I always cover the threads with electrical tape so I don't mess up the o-ring as it passes over the threads.

Did not use that method but I certainly will in the future. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe i am lucky or just good. I haven't had a problem putting the plug in. If i remember the o ring sets against the plug head. It doesn't pass over any threads. Other then to get it on the plug. I have the same drives as the op.

That's what I meant. Putting the o-ring on the plug. I wonder if they changed plug designs from my drive.

Edit: Yes, I looked up the part and it has changed for my drive. Shouldn't need my technique.
I am assuming yours looks like this

Mine looks like this so you can see why there is an issue:
