Draft at transum for 74' Starcraft American

While tied to the dock with loose lines and no extra gear in the boat, i made a mark on the transum where the water line is.
I didnt think much of this until i got home and meassured it.
its 16 1/2" draft.
Thats only a half inch below the drain hole to the motor well.
Its a '74 Starcraft American with an 85HP Johnny.
Just wondering if anyone else thinks this a bit low, and probably has wet foam?

16.5" on a 20" transom seems like alot. Maybe some of the starcraft guys will show up and can tell you what it should weigh. Then you could go to the scales and compare. You could also add starcraft to the title, they'll look for sure.

Yea, your right. I thought that i had planned the title well but, as you say i see the error of my ways.

I also think its alot and that the boat is heavy as there is a couple of other issues also.

Anyone have the weight for

If your American hasn't been rebuilt, there is a better than likely chance that it has watersoaked foam under the cockpit floor. All three American's I've owned have had that issue. My 15-footer sits fairly high in the water - a good 6-7 inches of transom above the water.

i looked at the pics of your projects,,were nice.
Im a little fuzzy on the 6-7" of transom above the water.
Judging by the pics of your 18' im a fare bit deeper in the water than yours. It looks like you have about 6" from the motor well drain hole to the water line, where as i have maybe 1".
Also where you said you got to 40 mph,, not me. mine was up to 30 one time and that was a little hairy to say the least. it tends to flop over one one side and stay there until you slow way down.
Thanks for posting the pics of your as they have pretty well set in my mind that the foam is wet to the tune of 3 or 4 hundred pounds, im going to go and weigh it later this week.
