Drain block and manifold every time or not

I am hearing different opinions on this. I keep my Bayliner 175 3.0 on a trailer and use it maybe once every three weeks. Is it better to drain the block each time or or just leave it full of water after flushing with salt away? I run in salt water and fresh.

IMO, flush n drain for salt, fresh water don't bother with it

Just flush. No need to drain. We had an I/O with over 1000 hours on it that was used in both salt and fresh and we din't even use salt away.

Okay. The nearby lakes have quagga mussels and the rule is to drain upon leaving. I am under the impression that draining accelerates rust in the cooling passages since this exposes the surfaces to air.

Don't worry about that, it will last longer then you will own the boat. Please do drain so not to spread the mussels else where. The lack of water will kill the mussels and keep the spread down
