Drain Plug - Winterization

Hi,

I have just taken my boat out for the winter :-(.

I have removed the drain plug and drained out all the water.

Question - what is the drain for in the middle of the boat for?

How did the water get in there - quite a lot drained out?

Will I need to do anything when I put the boat in next year?

Finally, does anyone have any neat tricks for flushing through a very heavy Mercury 100 engine with fresh water?

Thanks.

Re: Drain Plug - Winterization

First off what kind of a boat are we talking about here? You may know what it is - we don't. Secondly - kinda' confused on the weight factor for flushing. If it's an outboard then there is nothing needed before layup. Just keep her in the down position. You might want to drain and refill the lower unit. Just a safety procedure if nothing else.
