just noticed that the drain hole at the stern of my 14' speedboat, as it goes thru the glass and wood that the bottom 5 millimetres within the hole exposes the wood within the glassfibre. is this normal or should i fix it as i notice that the woody bit is very wet(as it would be).thanks

Re: drain plug

pwgun,

That has to be fixed! Best to let it dry for quite some time before you attempt it. I would remove the old sleeve and let the wood dry without it.

Re: drain plug

Then seal it with epoxy & reinsert a sleeve of proper length.

Re: drain plug

thanks guys.
UK weather is not great for a while now, but i have this urge to go out one last time.i have done a quick plug up and will wait to see if weather and tides allow this weekend. Then i will take the advise and put it in the garage to dry(with the quick repair removed)
