I have read in manuals that after each use the fuel line should be disconnected and the engine ran until it dies to burn up the remaining fuel in carbs etc. Is this good practice??? This is my first boat and I have just about finished overhauling the fuel system.

if you use stabil or seafoam or any other fuel stabilizer you dont need to run the gas out after every use but its good to do it if you won't be running it for a while

Do not run the fuel out of the carbs on a multi carb motor. It will be fine for a few weeks, with the fuel left in the carbs. Use some fuel stabilizer for off-season storage, and make sure the stabilized fuel gets into the carbs, before storage.

If you can reach your carb drain plugs fairly easily, then it is a good idea to drain each one from time to time to just be sure there is no water or debris in the float chambers. I always drain each carb onto a clean white rag to see what's in it. If you maintain clean, fresh fuel with a fuel/water separator and you use the Stabil Marine, then you'll probably never have any fuel related problems. Good Luck!

My manual says not to run the engine until it runs out of fuel. The engine is oiled by the gas, when you run it dry your running with no oil. Just a thought I always heard to run it dry but just read that this week while rebuilding the carbs.
