This one did snap in...just took a flat head screw driver and it poped right off. This is the access to my bildge pump Was able to see more clear view of the gas tank and it is full so the gauge is working... now to try and determine if the fuel is any good and if I wanna risk it or try and syphon it out...

If you have access to a number of fuel containers, take the fuel line connector to the engine off, route the fuel line out the boat drain plug, and into the fuel containers and drain the entire tank. If you feel the fuel is good put it back into the tank......I've done this before to check the fuel and to see if my gauge is reading properly.

if it were me.... I would just take it down ti the gas station and filler up. If you just get a few dollars in then you know the gauge is working. If you put gallons and gallons in then two things happen here, first you know your gauge is broken and second you now have a l tank of fresh gas.

There are a number of very inexpensive fluid pumps sold everywhere. Disconnect the fuel line at the engine or filter and pump the gas into a gas can. Use it in a 50/50 mixture with new gas in your car, mower, etc. You cannot siphon through that line because of the anti-siphon valve at the outlet of the tank.

You already test drove this boat right? If that is the case then I wouldn't worry about the fuel since the boat already ran fine.

Hard to test drive when there was still ice on the water lol plus the dealership didn't offer test drives because lakes in North Dakota are far and few between lol

Ah, must have been thinking of one of the other recent boat buyers on here. In that case a fuel sample sounds like a good idea.

Exactly, just take a fuel "sample". Enough to fill a qt jar half way. Take a big whiff, if it smells like gas and not varnish and doesn't look like varnish, you're good. No need to drain the tank if the gas is good. Since it's full, I'm guessing it's just fine.... I didn't look back in this thread, but if you haven't bought it yet, have them fire it up again while you're present and let it run for a while....

Ok, I see you bought it. Run it on muffs in your backyard for a while and see how she goes. After it warms up, run it at a little higher rpm and see if it runs smooth.

Maybe whenever you dump it in the lake stay relatively close to the landing. If all still goes well, take off and have fun....

Thanks, I'm arguing with the wife right now on the whole "Muff" theory (keep the minds out of the gutter people ;) ) All we have for garden hose are them dumb infomercial shrinking hoses..... the ones when the water drains out it shrinks and you can "fit it in a flower pot" .... well my thinking is as soon as I kick the motor on the water pump will start "sucking" and the hose will collapse pinching the water going to the motor.... well.. she refuses to buy me some "hard" garden hose.... says its too expensive for a "one time use" .... might have to borrow a garden hose from the father in law... I just hate asking to borrow stuff haha...

A 50' garden hose is pretty cheap as long as it reaches. I have 200/250'. Never used a shrinking hose. I like your theory tho. Maybe try it and keep a close eye to make sure you're pumping enough water thru the motor.....

And it will be used twice a year for sure, at least. Once in the spring to run it before you take it to the lake and once in the fall to fog it........

If your wife is giving you crap about spending $20 on a hose it would be best to just get rid of the boat now ;)

you are a wise man, I have been there with my wife. Unfortunately boats are expensive play toys but now that you have it the big bang is over so to speak. Just do the minimum to get it or her on the water. Then do a little every week and it wont seem so bad.

Hope my wife does not creep this forum, but I ware the pants in my family. My wife told me so but their her pants and they don't fit so well. No dancing room if you know what I mean, LOL.
