Drilling holes compadibility

I have the wholes drilled for a 78 90 hp mercury will other manufactures motors bolt on without drilling new holes in transom?

Probably not. That bolt pattern was particular to the 70s inline 4/6 motors from Merc. Merc went to a std bolt pattern sometime in the 80s.
