Drilling steering holes in new transom what angle?

I guess I'm not searching right. I bought an angle guide for my drill. picture I took looks like about 45 degrees but does anyone know the correct angle. Sure don't want to mess it up.

Don't know the angle of the holes, but agree 45 looks about right. Could pay it safe and go less, then grind out more if needed.

Could also pivot the arm full over a measure the distance from the outside bolts. Take that and maybe go anther 1/4 further

How about attaching it, this way if another is looking they can find it

Good idea! This is labelled for Volvo Penta, but it is identical to the Merc keyhole.
